Horizon Burn
Workshop · Half day (3h) · Full day (6h) · Up to 12 participants
From 22 000 kr
Your sector is shifting and you can feel it. This session names what's moving and maps what it means for decisions you're making now.
This suits you if…
- Your team has very different pictures of what the external environment looks like. You need a shared map before you can plan together.
- You keep reacting to things that turn out to have been visible for years. You want to build a better habit of noticing.
- You're going into a strategy cycle and the last one was built without anyone properly looking outward first.
What you take home
- Pre-session signal sheet sent one week before, sector-specific and structured according to the PESTLE framework.
- Post-session: Futures tree maps with surfaced insights from the workshop, tracking secondary and tertiary order effects.
- A mapping of the signals (forces and actors) that your team finds important, as well as areas where you might lack specific insights.
What happens
I send a sector-specific signal sheet the week before — a short document identifying the forces most relevant to your context across Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental dimensions. Participants read it before the session so the scanning work is anchored rather than improvised.
In the session, the group prioritises the signals that are most significant and least well-addressed by their current strategy. From two or three priority signals we build a futures wheel together — tracing how each force cascades and how it affects you.
The broader team you have with you into the session, the wider field of signals and insights we will gather — this requires a bit more time but will give you a fuller picture of where your blind spots might be.

Horizon Burn or Three Horizons? Three Horizons is better suited to organisations that know what they want to become but are struggling to get there — it maps internal tension. Horizon Burn is for when the problem is outside the organisation: what is the world doing, and what does that mean for us? If you're not sure which fits, a short call will make it clear.
